The best comment i heard about came from Neil Warnock, yesterday on Sky Sports News.

Excuse the innaccuracies, because this was relayed to me.

Interviewer: what were the driving factors behind Palace going into administration ?

Warnock: I think the money that Sky has pumped into the Premiership has made football at lower levels unsustainable.

**Boom Tish**

Can i also add, for those who are interested, that there is an independent supporters website for Palace fans. www.holmesdale.net They have forums with much better informed people than me.

Can i also add that moving to the NSC is probably out of the question, mainly because the CPCA would object, and have previously done so. Bromley would welcome a fairly high-placed league team to the borough, and the NSC is Palace's spiritual home, but the amount of protests would be time-consuming and difficult to deal with.

Sorry who is CPCA ? Crystal Palace ? ?
I hope Bromley would welcome a club in the borough but would Croydon want to lose one.
Croydon and Bromley between them have about 700,000 people. Even without the other neighbouring areas should be enough for 1 team.

CPCA = Crystal Palace Community Association. They apparently represent the interests of the Community of Crystal Palace and have been 'Battling since 1970 to save the Crystal Palace Triangle and Park from insensitive development'... with 'insensitive' possibly meaning 'any'. Best leave it at that I think.

Sorry now I recall. They did a good job with The Triangle and hopefully will continue to do so but this would not be in The Triangle or that near to it. Cannot see why they would be involved.
Surley as the area concerned was a football ground , infact a much larger ground which held over 100,000 cannot understand why they would object to football coming home . I believe current seating can probably only cater for about 15,000 or so ( but could be wrong ) would need a little expansion.
Surely there would not be many nimby's in this case.

Anyway guess I am jumping the gun as it has not even been mentioned.

I too wouldn't see any reason for the cpca to stick their noses in here.

There would be no development, insensitive or otherwise. This would merely be the utilisation of what is a vastly under used resource.

I can think of only one annual event that fills out the NSC and that is the Aviva Grand Prix. Other than that I cannot think of any time the stadium is used...the lights are on occasionally but I hear no noise from it so assume it is not used.

So with no expansion/building (Palace's crowds are roughly 15,000 which is about the capacity of the NSC) they have no reason to object?

The residents of Anerely and Sydders might object with 21 home games per season and there may be crowd control issues (although they seem to manage at St. James' Park) with such an open expanse but it makes sense, to me at least.

I can see a bit of a headache with people parking on CPP Road in Sydders and Anerely Hill in Anerely but beyond that it makes alot of sense?

As an addendum, unless I have misunderstood them, the cpca does not appear to be 'anti' the development of the NSC. Admittedly they'd prefer English Heritage to move the stadium nearer to the station and allow nature to reclaim the current NSC site but they're not 'anti' the idea of a new stadium per se?

Yes?/No?

Simon Jordan has muted the idea of Palace moving back to the the Palace but that may have had more to do with his negotiations with Ron Noades over the rent at Selhurst rather than a genuine desire to move.
Would make a lot sense for may reasons, so probably wont happen.

Shame about the Palace.
Just goes to show you can't trust the judgement of modern businessmen. Goldberg made his money in IT recruitment, Jordan made his from flogging cheap mobile phones. Both are now apparently bust.
Meanwhile, Jordan's old enemies, David Gold and David Sullivan, have made a fortune selling Birmingham and have bought a bankrupt West Ham from a bunch of Icelandic bankers. Gold and Sullivan learnt all they know from the pornography business. The traditional industries clearly produce the best business brains!

Yes best wishes for the future to The Palace. They did not deserve the last 3 chairmen they have had.

Goldberg was a naive idiot and Noades... well, I blame him for this whole situation in the first place (i.e., selling the club but keeping hold of Selhurst Park).
For all his faults, Jordan is a Palace man at heart. OK, he may have made a few bad decisions and not marketed the club but he stuck to his principles (even though it meant we didn't sign Cahill). I've spoken to supporters of other teams and the general consesus is that Jordan was a breath of fresh air - he shot from the hip and told it like it was. He may not be everyone's cup of tea but he saved Palace an put his money where his (not inconsiderable) mouth was. Don't forget, he's the main creditor in all this - he put £20million of his own money into the club. He stands to lose a LOT of money.

£2.5M for Moses. An absolute steal.

I might go along tomorrow night partly to give the boys my fairweather support [being honest here] but also as I'd love to see them beat Wolves. After Wolves throwing the game at OT they've found themselves on my long list of clubs I cannot abide.

Well done Palace tonight; knocking Premier League opposition out of the Cup. The Villa tie will help pay some bills!

What a great win. Watch out Villa. Could it be Wembley again after 20 years.
