incident in sydenham road today

Post by ALIB »

OK, a bit of gossip. Or not.
I was in Sydenham Road today (opposite Newlands), around 4pm and saw a very large police presence. Loads of vans and cars swooping on the junction and quite a few people in hand-cuffs.

No idea what was going on, but loads of people were standing around watching

I am gutted. I live on that junction, and missed it all completely :-(

Coincidence or is it just me....but I have driven in South Norwood, Streatham, Tooting, and Penge today, and in all of those neibourhoods I have seen young men pulled over and searches, nice chats taking place, wonder if it was some sort of station rivalry kind of thing that might secretly take place every fourteenth Monday if the moon is in a lunar eclipse or sumfink. Loooool!

I asked about this the following day. Unfortunately, what I was told was hearsay so probably not allowed on here. Suffice to say it seems to have been more than just a random check.

The police don't do random "stop checks"

Actually, a slight clarification, the police do have powers to 'randomly' stop cars and check documents....
