that tunnel in the woods

Post by lambchops »

where's that tunnel in sydenham woods lead to? is it the old train line that was built to feed the crystal palace?

(i've got photos of it in the snow which i forgot to post....will do soon though!)

also, are people allowed to go in it? is there anything down there that's worth a look and a guided tour?

would be spooky!

If it's the one I'm thinking of, we used to walk the length of it during the lunch break to the school sports ground. It used to take nearly an hour. Quite spooky when you were in the middle, the mist hovering even in summer, and just dots of light behind and ahead of you. That and someone disappearing down one of the random holes. It's been sealed for years. suprised no one ever held a rave there, or perhaps I was just never invited.

A couple of years ago a small group of forum members did a Halloween walk into the tunnel; you can see some pictures on page 2 of this thread

great! thanks guys.

i would be up for a walk through there one night.

maybe we could do a ghost walk one night. a few of us could do some research on some places/legends and each give a little talk at the spots (in between pubs!)

Ugh - I could have done without that image Will Greenwood. Thank you so much. Of all the images I wish I could erase from my memory ...

And I've just eaten!
