Archaeology At Crystal Palace

Post by Chelsey »

Hi once again ,
can any one tell me if any archaeological digs have been made on the site of The Crystal Palace . I remember some time back that there was the possibility of some happening in the near future , but heard no more than that . I am obviously not talking about the work on the aquarium , although the work there has been tremendous

Many thanks to everyone who has helped in my quest for knowledge

MOLAS on behalf of LDA did some "archaeological" pits last year and been a couple of others in the past trying to find remains of the pneumatic railway but to my knowledge thats about it.

and i take it they didn't find a lot , though i would imagine digging through tons of WW2 rubble might make it a tad difficult to tell the difference between Palace and war rubble

Many Thanks Again Chelsey

They did find a few things but in general not a lot. The whole exercise was very rushed.
