My experience of white goods in this area has been that if you leave them in your driveway they magically vanish within a day. Scrap collectors and 'previously loved' sales outlets are always on the lookout for them.

Thanks Chris its a fridge freezer has very little metal on it. It has been left outside my door for 2 weeks now but not by the actual street. would that make a difference?
thank you

I am afraid that I cannot offer any guarantees. My back garden has a driveway onto Newlands Park. Soon after we moved in over ten years ago I had the gates open with a washing machine which had just been replaced visible in the yard. An enterprising passer-by spotted it and asked me if I was scrapping it. When I confirmed this he had his car back in minutes and happily took it away. Encouraged by this I then used to place any unwanted white goods on the strip of land outside our back gate. They have always vanished within 24 hours.

Your mileage may vary.

Try The British Heart Foundation furniture collection website. I know they take electrical goods and furniture.
Actually they seem to take almost anything. Oh, one small point - is it broken?

Thank you both for the suggestions. Is not broken still works however it produces ice and the element that needed to be changed was difficult to find so I changed it

Just a note, on the street, washing / dishwasher machines will disappear in minutes.
Fridges / freezers won't, to deliver to the local rubbish dump as a tradesmen costs nearly £50. An individual in a car however can dump them for free.
A fridge was left outside the flats I live in for a year untouched!!
So much for the recycling policy
