Advice on finding a summer aupair

Post by ariana.p.newham »

Hi,

Our little one will be off nursery for 7 weeks in the summer. He's only 3 and as far as we can tell there are no children groups he could go to as he's still to young.

We're strongly considering getting an au pair to help us looking after him, but we haven't done this before and aren't sure about the best ways to go about it. Is it best to use an agency or a site like Aupair World‎, how much would an aupair around Sydenham would usually be paid for example. If any of you has done this before and could give some advice we'd be really grateful.

:)

Not had an au-pair before but a friend of mine who is a secondary school English teacher in Austria had a student that she rates highly who was looking for a summer au-pair job in London. I can find out if she's still looking, if you're interested?

Dulwich Childcare have a number of nannies looking for summer holiday work. Many have their existing families going away so they are free, or we have Nursery Assistants, Teaching Assistants and qualified Teachers with availability over the holidays.

They are all DBS checked, have childcare experience, referenced and interviewed face to face by us.

Our nannies have more childcare exp than an au pair and they don't live with you which minimises the disruption! They all live locally so they know the area well and can be flexible should you wish to go away for some of the hols or have family to stay.

We have been recommended in a number of threads on East Dulwich Forum, our website has genuine testimonials from our registered families. If you would like to find out more please refer to our website http://www.dulwichchildcare.com or call us to discuss (all contact details on our website).

Many thanks,
Paula and the Dulwich Childcare Team

Hi Parkrunner,

We'd only consider au-pairs with previous childcare experience, ideally Spanish speaking as we want our son to be able to speak Spanish (my 1st language) as well as English. Someone who is good with children is more important though. If you friend's student is still looking please share her details with us. We'll start looking into candidates very soon.

Dulwich Childcare, will check your site.
