Sydenham a gogo

Post by stuart »

"The neighbourhoods of Crystal Palace Park have, one by one, fallen before the onslaught of the gentrifiers. Sydenham? Mochaccinos à gogo. Gipsy Hill? Wall-to-wall gift shops. Even Norwood is said to be considering a juice bar concept. Only Penge holds firm. Rally those three-wheeled baby buggies, troops. We're going in ..."

Ahem - Grauniad readers appear to inhabit a non too parallel universe. More of this amazing stuff here;

Have used Pizza Gogo for years - best around in my very 'umble opinion -but where's this Moccaccino Gogo place?

Can I save a multi trip by getting my after dinner coffee at the same time as I get my la carte main course (to take away, of course). Seems to make sense - dont want to put any extra pressure on the traffic around here

Guardian Weekend is way out of touch - the three-wheeled baby buggies have already mobilised! See Power Pramming in the Park - on the home page. What I really want to know, though, is where to get those fava beans...

I'm not sure if I prefer to have Sydenham tagged as moccachino country or not! We probably faired better than Penge though!

Poor old Penge, I think it's the name. If you pronounce it right, Sydenham just about sounds sophisticated - "Seedernhaarm" - although to me it is generally "Sidnum"

However you pronounce it, Penge sounds like a Victorian disease.

i always pronounce penge with a french accent and call it 'pornge a la mere'

i also read the grauniad article at the weekend, and do sometimes wonder where these silly people get their ideas from.

Penge...... because of the odd Eurostar train or two, shouldn't it become "Penge International" ?

you never know - then the station will _really_ be improved ;-)
