Chess

Post by Barty »

All this talk of activity, like badminton, and jogging round Crystal Palace Park, needs to be balanced out by something a little less energetic.

Any chessplayers out there?

Yes! One of life's greatest pleasures is a game of chess after an evening in the pub...

Perhaps a bringing the two together might mean game in the woodman might be in order?

Absolutely!

Although I have always found that combining chess with alcohol somewhat reduces my chessplaying skill, it would definately be nice to play a human opponent again rather than endless email chess and getting my ar$e kicked by Chessmaster.....

I have been known to push the odd prawn every now and again. It may be of interest to some that the Crystal Palace Chess Club meets in Sydenham every Monday evening. Details here.

Chessmaster is for chess wimps. Rybka 3 is for real chess players.

I used to play a bit as a wee lad. Reached the giddy heights of under 8 champion of London. Still play a bit now, here mostly:

I'm a member of the IECG (www.iecg.org), but I'm missing that face-to-face sort of chess like I used to play way back in my Hillingdon League days :-D
