Languages - Evening Classes

Post by Sydola »

I live in Lower Sydenham, does anyone know of any language courses in the local area? I want to learn German and I've had no luck doing Google searches.

Thought I'd come on here and ask the experts!

If you are near Bell Green you seen inbetween the evening class institutes of Catford , Sydenham and Forest Hill.

There has always been , or certainly was , a large German population in the area. If you want personal tuition you could try the Vicar at The Dietrich Bonhoeffer Lutheran Kirche in Dacres Road.
They may be able to help. I know they run , or ran , many German functions especially at Christmas Tide.

Lewisham Adult Education only do French, Italian, Spanish and Turkish - http://www.lewisham.gov.uk/myservices/e ... ectus.aspx

If you're prepared to travel, try The City Lit near Covent Garden/Holborn: http://www.citylit.ac.uk/search/?dept=L ... ion=German. Or Morley College near Lambeth North: http://www.morleycollege.ac.uk/courses/ ... ent=german Both are excellent adult education providers.

Strange Lewisham Council does not consider German worth teaching. Has about 95 to 100 million first language speakers all very prosperous.
French and Italian have far far less. Turkish also less.

I still recommend contacting the Dietrich Bonnhoffer Kirche who may know someone locally who could teach you the language of Goethe.
