Gordon Brown has just written a book on courage, to be published on 4 June, profiling eight people who showed great courage. One of the eight is Cicely Saunders, founder of St Christopher's hospice. An extract from this is in today's Guardian:

Another of the people portrayed in his book is Dietrich Bonhoeffer, who of course was a pastor in the German Church in Forest Hill in the 1930s before returning to Germany, where he was executed by the Nazis in the final days of the Second World War.
