Kitchen Spam Scam Con Man Targets STF

Post by admin »

Please be very careful of any posting on STF purporting to offer cheap or discount kitchen units. They are mostly the work of Britain's "worst rogue trader" by the name of Vance Miller. He is so notorious he gets his own Wikipedia Page:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vance_Miller

I try and remove any of this kitchen spam crap that gets through the filters as fast as his spammers post them but if I'm having breakfast or something you may see them. Please don't be fooled. The give-aways are the location and telephone area code don't usually match up. He uses dozens of different domain addresses. If you do a whois lookup they end up with an apparently fictitious Laura Digweed at an Oldham address (also believed to be fictitious).

One would have thought this kitchen spam scam was a bit obvious. However, he with another guy called Martin Sersen have caught out too many people. Read and cry:

I have put this old post as a sticky as Vance Miller is renewing his indiscriminate attack on any STF subforum.

Not only that but instead of employing poor wretched spammers from the third world (which we blocked reasonably efficiently) Vance has now got smarter. He is routeing his spams through legitimate points all around the globe which can't be blocked.

I kill off the posts as fast as I can. However, you may have to continue suffering this guy's hacking if I'm away from a keyboard. Just never ever think about buying a kitchen online.

Is it helpful to report them as we see them, or does that add to your workload?

I see our friends up the hill have also been benefiting from Vance Miller's crappy kitchen scam spam:

They cut it out by screening all new posts. I'm reluctant to follow. The ease and speed of making one's first post is crucial in bringing new life to Forums. Without that they die.

With some extra traps I've got it down to an average of less than one a week from four to six per day. Hope you can bear that.
