Post by Spontaneous »

To mark the centenary of the Armistice in November, Sydenham-based theatre company Spontaneous Productions will be screening all four parts of its community musical TILL THE BOYS COME HOME over the weekend of Sat 10 / Sun 11 Nov Upstairs at the Sydenham Centre. Full details here:

Originally staged as part of Sydenham Arts Festival in July 2014, this ground-breaking production utilised four venues over two weeks, featured a cast of 200+ including professional actors, two community choirs, three primary schools, two secondary schools and a youth theatre.

Telling the true story of the gasworkers from the South Suburban Gas Company in Lower Sydenham, 58 of whom fought and died in WW1, these four full-length musical shows explore the impact of war on individuals, families and society at large, and equally educational and entertaining. Look out for former Mayor of Lewisham Sir Steve Bullock in two of the parts!

Alongside the screenings will be an exhibition of production photographs, and the screening will culminate in a gathering of some of the original cast and crew, with a sing-a-long of 'Keep the Home Fires Burning'.
