On a slightly wider but parallel front.

My email spam filters have been flooded by a sudden increase in traffic as of Saturday 16 March too. The increase is in the range of 25 to 30 items per day with a few new items getting through the filters, requiring manual intervention.

Most of the unwanted stuff emanates from the same domain - but not all.

Smacks of some new and very undesirable player(s) with bots have kicked off on new ventures. Is it an AI thing?

No increase here JGD over the weekend. Indeed spam seems to have dropped a little over the years. Most of the standard scammers (delivery companies, banks, porn ...) seem to have given up on me.

I guess it is becoming more targeted - but in your case most coming from a common source seems odd when they can so easily use multiple attack vectors.

My spam filter catches ~200-250/month. Almost nothing gets through but I have to check it every week 'cos maybe 2/3 genuine emails get caught.

Only 6 bots overnight, so I'll reopen new registrations from now.
