Was having a look for some new Windows gadgets yesterday (the little applications you can download for display on the Vista sidebar) and found a National rail Enquiries one.

You can set a specific station and display forthcoming departures from that station and how they are running.

Its a shame that NatRail, unlike TfL, don't allow us to put that same information on this website for the benefit of all.

They appear to rather sell train times for money than provide a public service. Sorry, Barty, its nothing to do with your particular employer but the cock-eyed way we decided to structure our railways ... where we all appear to lose out.

NRES aren't our favourite people either.....their website was showing Southern services running normally on Snow Monday (when there was no service) and Snow Tuesday (when an emergency timetable was running).

They do the same when there are engineering works, often resulting in phone calls from distressed friends at the station when they realise there are no trains running.
