Also, you can get a train, which only takes 10 mins, to Brixton Ritzy from Penge East, if you live that side of Sydenham. There is also a direct bus to Brixton which you can catch opposite the Horniman, which comes from Honor Oak, I think the P4.

And doesn't Forest Hill library show the occasional film?

I think its absolutely ridiculous the fact that Lewisham doesnt have a cinema, there really has been a lack of investment within the borough hasnt there? ...I mean so many boroughs, think of neighbouring Croydon and Greenwich have large entertainment and retail complexes like Purley Way, Croydon Town Centre, Greenwich Peninsula, Cosmopolitan Greenwich Town Centre etc, there doesnt seem to be any reason for people to visit Lewisham and most people in Lewisham usually go to into the boroughs of Croydon or Bromley for such activities mainly because its safer and their boroughs have actually improved things, i mean no where in South London will be perfect. Lewisham is becoming very very miserable with not many reasons to live, work or visit. The fact it is the only borough without a Cinema implies something is wrong.

Does anyone know if a new Cinema will open on behalf of the Lewisham Town Regeneration project in the Lewisham Gateway and Loampit Vale area, it seems like a good place to have one has it boasts the area will compete with the likes of Bromley and Croydon due to expansion of Lewisham Shopping Centre.

Sydenham alone used to have 3 cinemas.

Not sure people nowadays are able to behave at cinemas. Talking and mobile phone use seem rife.

Well, if you're going to go to the O2, why not go the whole hog and try Stratford Picturehouse, too? Just stay on the Juby for another few stops. I've done it a couple of times this year, and it takes just over half an hour - and costs £1.30 each way on Oyster if you time it right! It's only a few minutes' walk from the station, and it shows an interesting range of films.

Mind you, Beckenham Odeon's still nearer ...
