Ex-local authority flats in Sydenham - Your opinions

Post by GillsMan_29 »

Following on from one of my earlier posts, I will be viewing three ex-local authority one bed flats in the following areas of Sydenham:

- Sherbourne Cort (Elmers End Road)
- Tovill Close
- Greyfairs (Wells Park Road)

Does anybody know about these areas. My main priority is to be near good transport links (Wells Park Road looks the better of the three as it is sandwiched between Sydenham and Sydenham Hill stations). However, I want to ensure I'm not moving into a ghetto and that it is somewhere wherev I can live comfortably.

Greyfriars is not ex-local authority property, although the Sydenham Hill Estate is a close neighbour.

It is a lovely area and next door to the Green Flag Wells Park. It is also well above an occasional "trouble spot" - the area around the two pubs and the shop further down the hill.

It is on two bus routes one of which goes to Crystal Palace (Upper Norwood), renowned for its variety of restaurants. One big thing in Greyfriars favour is the Dulwich Woodhouse, couple of hundred yards uphill - a great pub.

Lower down in Wells Park Road (by the Talma) is known as Indian Territory.............like in the old wild west days you would need a cavalry escort when travelling through there
Mind you things should improve with the new Morleys Take Away opening there

Yes the Dulwich Wood House is a nice pub (not great); once you get up that hill you will be gasping for a drink :)
However it must be the most expensive pub in London!!! :( :(

Great pub. How is it the most expensive pub in London? You obviously don't get out much! It seems quite normal price wise. Plus u can takeaway 4 bottles of Youngs for a fiver - bargain!
Mind you, if you're eating, the desserts are expensive I admit, I was a bit shocked when I ordered one.
