Leaving Sydenham

Post by JulietP »

This is my last week living in Sydenham after two and a bit years, and in an extreme act of packing-avoidance I thought I'd do a list of the high and low points.

Discovering the Dolphin >> Discovering that the Woodman would never be a pub again
The Sylvan Post opening >> The fact that the Greyhound is still a shell more than two years later
SEE3 and the Portas pilot >> The fact that some people delight in criticising everything they do
Forest Hill Pools reopening >> Working out what the tall building behind Sydenham Police Station is!
Walking in Sydenham Hill Wood >> Dead bodies being discovered in Sydenham Hill Wood
Trat Raff and That's Amore >> Realising how much we're going to miss them!
Fresh fish from Billings >> Fried chicken bones all over the pavement
Some great finds in AldLife >> Proliferation of betting shops and pawnbrokers
The refurb of the High Street >> Sitting in queues trying to get through Cobbs Corner now it's down to one lane!
Interesting people & discussion on here >> The endless trolling and sniping from some
The genuine passion of locals to make things better: and I suppose ultimately that's what's important.

Adieu Sydders. It was fun. :-)

I agree , best wishes Juliet where ever you are going.

You can , of course , still use The Forum , even if you move to Forest Hill or Ponge.

Going much further than that, I'm afraid - out of London to Kent. Otherwise I wouldn't be mourning the loss of That's Amore or my favourite pilates class at Forest Hill pools...

Juliet,
Will you become a Kentish person - or - a person of Kent?
(Good luck for whichever you become)...

Enjoy Kent Juliet, sad to see you go.

One of the best things about living in Sydenham is the fact that Kent is on our doorstep (it was closer before they moved the goalposts!). It is one of, if not the most beautiful county in the UK.

Just out of interest, isn't the traffic at Cobbs corner due to the amazing amount of traffic lights that we now have? There are still the same amount of lanes aren't there?

Mikecg and Bensonby now live down that way, and they're still very welcome here. Hope you'll not forget us, and make occasional contributions.
