Private messages

Hi

I've noticed that when I've tried to send private messages recently, they sit in my outbox and never appear in my sent folder so I suspect that they are not being sent. Can someone confirm if my understanding is correct? If it is, what can I do to rectify this?

This never used to be the case and I'm not sure if I'm having a senior moment!
