Cricket club seeking new junior and adult players - join now

Post by SMCC Colts »

Hi there potential cricket players,

JUNIOR CRICKET

I help organise junior cricket at Streatham & Marlborough Cricket Club and I’m looking for more kids to play cricket with us this year. The club’s grounds are located between East Dulwich and Forest Hill.

Last year we grew from around 100 to 150 kids, and this year we are planning for 200. We have space in nearly all age-groups from school year 1 to 10. We have a great new head coach who started with us last Easter, and this year I’m expecting we’re going to have a brilliant coaching team - many of whom also coach for Surrey and/or London Schools.

We are also looking to expand from one all-girl team to two this year. We’re aiming to run Under 9s (up to school year 4) and Under 11s (up to school year 6) teams, so if you know any girls in years 2-6 interested in cricket, we’d love to hear from them.

From January to March we have 10 week indoor training running on Tuesdays and Fridays. After Easter, outdoor training will also be on Tuesdays and Fridays (time and day depending on age-group). We will normally have a BBQ going and the bar open every summer training evening. Matches are on Sat and Sun mornings during the summer term.

Details of our indoor training are on the following page on our website:
https://sites.google.com/view/smccjunio ... authuser=0

Answers to nearly all other questions asked by parents are also up on that website.

If you’d like to book or you have questions, please contact me using this email address: smcccolts@gmail.com. I or another member of the club will normally respond within a few hours.

ADULT CRICKET

We also always welcome new senior players at any time of year, both men and women. We run up to seven men’s teams on Saturdays, one or two on Sundays and a team on Wednesdays, and we have teams to suit all levels of age, ability and experience. We have a special parents’ membership for parents of junior players who just want to play a few games per year.

Our ladies’ (including older teenagers) team went unbeaten last summer and we’re hoping to run two teams this summer. Ladies training sessions are fully coached, so you don’t need to have played cricket before.

Both men and women’s sections also have indoor training which starts after the New Year. Details of senior cricket are here on our main club website: http://www.streathammarlboroughcc.co.uk/.

If you are interested in joining our senior teams, please contact Dan Ellis daniel.ellis@falconpw.com (men) or Emma Williams emmawilliams13@icloud.com (ladies).

Please note that we are, like nearly all cricket clubs, a non-profit organisation run by players and parents (including myself, Dan, Emma and many others) who volunteer our time just for the love of the game. Our goal is just to get lots of people playing and enjoying the fun and healthy game that is cricket, and provide an enjoyable hub social hub for the local community.

Thanks.

Happy new year, everyone.

It's not too late to book kids into our indoor cricket training courses that are running on Tuesdays and Fridays from January to March. These will be a great opportunity for players to improve their skills and play a lot of fun indoor cricket ahead of the outdoor season.

Details are here:

Email me at smccolts@gmail.com to book.

Please do share this info with friends who you think might be interested.

Ladies training also starting soon - contact Emma Williams (detail above/on website).

And still a few places available on our junior indoor training. Course on Tuesdays is now 25% off. Details here: https://sites.google.com/view/smccjunio ... -years-1-7

Hope to see some of you there.

Hi everyone,

We're taking bookings for new junior players to learn and play cricket with us this summer.

Full details are on the SMCC Juniors website here: https://sites.google.com/view/smccjuniors/smcc-juniors

We start from kids in Reception (All Stars course) right up to year 10 and beyond, with our older teenagers also playing in 'senior' (open-age) cricket.

We also have a growing number of girls playing and expect to go to a number of local all-girl cricket festivals this year. Our girls are mainly years 2-6.

This year, we are particularly looking for more players (boys or girls) in years 5 and 7, but we are expanding by 50 more kids this year, so all ages welcome.

If you know anyone who might be interested, please let them know.

New adult players (men and women) are also very welcome in our senior section (see our main club website: http://streathammarlboroughcc.co.uk/)

Thanks,

David Cook
