What's up with Cherry and Ice??

Post by mikej » 30 Jul 2018 11:14

Just wondering....this lovely place has been closed the last couple of times in the last few days I've been intending to drop in.

Anyone know anything?

Hello

Cherry and ice looked very closed this evening with paper up at the windows. Does anyone know what’s happening?

Agreed. Always been a fan of the coffee, atmosphere and staff generally and they do host events nights which aren’t available elsewhere nearby (eg: debate night, gaming competitions). Very glad and relieved there wasn’t anything more to it than a holiday/refurb.

Not sure but I passed a few days ago and the signs have changed and now say they are finishing up the final touches (assume a refurb of sorts has taken place) and are open in a week - not sure how long those signs have been up for so possibly reopening this weekend?..

So it looks like one of the reasons why Cherry & ice have closed for sometime is that it is diversifying.

New vinyl lettering on the window is promoting picture framing and mirror cutting services.

If they do it will be a very interesting and welcome addition to the high street!

Part of me also saw/thought that but then also thought maybe it was already on the windows from a long time back and I never noticed it!? No idea but hopefully should be reopen pretty imminently

Looks absolutely brilliant in here - all refurbed and the back is planning to be an artists space.

The art gallery at the back (and the secret garden that I didn’t know existed until last week!) is all set-up and the first events since the refurb are:

Cherry and Ice Art Club (drawing and painting) - 7pm to 9pm every Thursday. “Live models, tutorials, themed nights and more”. “Refreshments and materials available at discount for group attendees”. “Mixed abilities groups, all are welcome”. Contact Marcia on 07862219383 or ask inside Cherry and Ice for more info.

Saturday 20th July 9pm til late - Joints n jams” - dj’s Busyfingers, Tubby Boy and guests playing the best of 80s and 90s disco funk, r n b, dancehall, hip hop, groove.
£8 entry, £11 entry and drink, £16 entry, meal (options include jerk chicken, curried goat, chickpea curry, veggie and beef lasagne and sides) and drink
Free shot of rum on entry
Limited tickets available on shoobs.com, MOTD

Had a good chinwag with William today who is trying to make cherry and ice a real social community hub with the refurb and events etc. So keep your eye out for events in the window, on Facebook/Twitter and show some love :)
