Some of the Lewisham staff are moving across to Bell Green once the Lewisham store closes.

An opportunity has been lost to extend the Santander Cycles scheme into more of South London instead leaving it to the wild west of private bike hire companies. Lime and Forest are allowed to trade in Lewisham but are more expensive than the TfL bikes.

I thought at least part of Mayow Road is wide enough for a cycle lane on both lanes? If Sydenham Hill can have cycle lanes between Kirkdale and Westwood Hill despite some narrow sections, then I'd think Mayow Road can.

Apparently it'll open in September.

Natwest has announced that the Sydenham Road branch will close on the 23rd February 2027.

However it's been agreed with LINK that a new banking hub operated by the Post Office will open either before the closure date or the bank will stay open until the hub launches.

Indeed. The Lib Dems gained votes from disillusioned Tories at the local election in Beckenham Town.

The forecasts show that Beckenham and Penge will go Labour however.

Lewisham West should stay safe Labour. So should West Dulwich & Norwood.

More interesting is which way the previous Beckenham constituency goes. It's picking up Penge/Cator Park Labour wards and the troubled Conservative MP is not standing. With the predicted swing it could switch.

Not all of SE26 will be in the new Lewisham West and East Dulwich constituency.

The Southwark side of Sydenham Hill along with Crescent Wood Road will continue to be in Dulwich & West Norwood, while those in the London Borough of Bromley will be in Beckenham & Penge.

The last bank in Penge, Halifax will close on August 10th. Only a few years ago it had Barclays, HSBC and Natwest.

You may have noticed that there have been no buses on routes 194, 202 and 450 today. This is due to a pay dispute at Arriva buses.
