Re: What’s going on at x?

I Understand that the landlord has put up the rent at cherry and ice to an unaffordable level. I noticed today that everything except fixtures and fittings has been removed so it seems sadly unlikely that it will reopen. On more positive news, in terms of investment, I understand that the unit next ...

Re: Queensthorpe Road Smart Bench

Has anyone else noticed the state of the smart bench at the bottom of Queensthorpe? Good idea in theory but now looking an ugly and dirty state after just after year of installation. Underneath the bench is filthy, the wooden bench damaged, the paintwork now peeling and the structure rusting and now...

Re: New houses

I’ve looked at the docs. The proposal is that the development will be car free. 34% of the units will be “affordable”. Of the affordable homes just over half (55%) will be affordable rent and just under half (45%) will be shared ownership. Affordable rent is usually about 80% of market rent and is t...

Re: What's up with Cherry and Ice??

So it looks like one of the reasons why Cherry & ice have closed for sometime is that it is diversifying.

New vinyl lettering on the window is promoting picture framing and mirror cutting services.

If they do it will be a very interesting and welcome addition to the high street!

Re: Sydenham Post Office to close for refurbishment

I personally think they have done a quite good job. A good sign outside, painted, a decent amount of stationary and a friendly service.

Re: Poundstretcher in old co-op site

Hello Parker.

Two different Tesco employees said it was jacks however at the Sydenham society agm they said it wasn’t.

Apparently they say it will be a national discount retailer. Poundland and wilko are not opening new sites. I would hazard a guess that it might be B&M or Homebargains. Oh joy!

Re: DRAGONFLY YOGA SYDENHAM OPENING

I think it’s a great project which I fully support and I did write in to support the planning application. I am also willing to contribute to crowd funding. However the new sign that has been installed is excessively big and out of proportion and I think unfortunately ruins the look of the new build...

Re: Mamma Dough

Love Raffs and will continue to frequent often and I agree some of their specials are beautiful. However I think Mamma Dough is an excellent addition to the high street. Very reasonably priced for me. Most pizzas are £10 or below, only their specials are £12. The food I have had has always been deli...

I have been directed to this forum.

I can confirm that Sivyers yard is not for sale and never has been, not sure where that rumour came from.
Thank you CCC. Can i ask in what capacity you confirm that it is not for sale? Are you the owner?

Re: Any news on Mamma Dough?

Great evening at Mamma Dough following a few drinks at the Greyhound. So great to have these places in walking distance! I very much enjoyed (all 3 courses  ). The service was prompt and professional and you would never know they had only just opened! Highly reccomend the Nutella calzone for...

Re: kinleigh folkard & hayward

Not that I have any use for it or go over the bridge too regularly but every time I do I wonder what’s happening with this. Obviously it looks a lot better than the grey chipboard hoardings but it would look even better/functionally bring people work etc if it was open! Last thing I heard - straigh...

Re: zigghy coffea shop

sydenhamboy, in my view, it might be that things have to cost that much to cover overheads, especially rent & rates, but I can't see me queuing outside, or mums/dads with kids, at £3.55 per head for a basic cup of tea/coffee and slice of cake. Maybe the food, which you say you didn't try, offers be...

Hi

I hear it is going to be a Jacks, the discount Tesco store.
An employee of Tesco Metro in Sydenham and another source which I cannot divulge.
