I’m thinking of moving to the area and have found a potential leasehold flat in a house of two flats where Lewisham is the freeholder. I’d be interested to hear people’s experiences of dealing with them in this capacity. Thank you.

Ask why LBL are the landlord. Then ask them to sell you the freehold... If you are satisfied.

It’s just 2 flats in the house so unlikely I’ll be able to buy the freehold (as the other leaseholder will need to do it at the same time), and Lewisham own a few properties on the street.
If anyone who’s had experience of leasing from them has any experiences they can relay that would be helpful.

Hi, this is probably too late. I'm a leaseholder with Lewisham and they are not great but they are much better than Lewisham Homes - who used to managing Lewisham freehold properties. The charges are reasonable, but it's very difficult to get them to do anything. We've gone from one extreme where Lewisham Homes used us as cash cows and were always doing unnecessary works to the property and over-charging, to Lewisham Council who charge less money but have neglected us. Since we went back to Lewisham Council my monthly management fee has gone from over £100 a month to £40 a month - so I'm not complaining. Any work that urgently needs doing, I happy pay to get done myself and Lewisham don't seem to mind.
I live in a two flat property and the flat downstairs is for sale. I want to buy the freehold from Lewisham, my neighbours do not; I am hoping my new neighbours do. You're right, you can't do anything until the other leaseholders agree to do this. I would ask the estate agent if it is possible to speak to the other residents to suss if they would be up for buy the freehold. If there is a chance you are looking to buy the flat in my building, that would the dream but probably unlikely.
