Re: PFC Penge Food Centre Sydenham Road

This is why I use amazon prime now! No drama and I don’t like horrible customer service and I’m afraid there are one too many convince shops here that are just unpleasant. I offset my carbon by getting rid of my car.

alywin, I think black cabs can refuse fares if they're going home as not obliged to take people if not on their route home. Surprising how many are homeward bound at the mere mention of Sarf London.
The best th8ng about uber is it doesn’t discriminate.

Yeah, wrong side of the river, innit?

I thought they weren't allowed to turn down a fare within a specified distance without good cause, but perhaps Sydenham is outside that distance from central London.
The fact they can turn down fares means it isn’t really public transport

Re: Black cabbies in celebration.....

It’s a shame uber are doing the minimum required rather than offering a premium service. Hopefully this will encourage then to do better. The last time I got a black cab was 2004 and I had to beg the driver to go to Sydenham from Waterloo I was so grateful I gave him. £20 tip. The other driverS didn...

Re: Coop Forest Hill

Just out of interest, does this new one have those ridiculously tall shelves, as the Syd. Rd. one did after a refit making shopping there a real chore having to keep needing an assistant's help? I wonder if that was part of its downfall. You mention lots of space - is it user friendly? . I didn’t n...

Hey, I went in yesterday and it’s great lots of choice and space. The only problem is the location but I hope I’m wrong.

Re: Coop Forest Hill

It's a great location. There is very little competition within easy walking distance - so a captive market in the heavily populated zone between FH & Sydenham Sainsburys. Also parking is as good as it gets round there. Their strategy is, I think, to go for the places that Lidl/Aldi have left free a...

Do you mean Stanstead Road? Towards Catford - the former Maplin building by the garden centre?
There was a planning application in 2018 to convert the other co-op in Forest Hill (Waldram Park Road) into a hotel. Could be that Co-Op are relocating.
Yes Stanstead road.

Re: Coop Forest Hill

It in Dartmouth road opposite the tile shop. It’s a bit weird that they’ve give up the footfall from commuters. I would have extended into the carpark, that site is gold and the new site is just a bit too far

Coop Forest Hill

Hey, I saw the lovely new coop in Forest Hill and I can’t help but wonder why haven’t we got one anymore. Is there something wrong with Sydenham?

I've trawled the web, but haven't found any mention of an incident involving gun shots in Sydenham last night. Perhaps, as someone suggested, the sound was fireworks. I for one wouldn't be able to tell the difference.
. I hope you’re right I’m sure the police would be looking if it was gun shots

Re: Gunshots?

Yes at least 8 shots the first rounds jolted me up and the second rounds were closer. I didn’t hear a car though I was listening for an engine hoping it was a backfire

Re: Mad Dough

I hope they will do well, but they will be up against it. The restaurant business is one of the hardest to succeed in, as Sydenham demonstrates. Just recently, Shirin in the high street has closed down, as has the waffle place on Kirkdale. And I can't work out how the sushi restaurant (the one with...
